Chinese culture and history gave the birth to many philosophy and practical feng shui schools. Some of them belong to Dao tradition, the other – to Buddhist. Some specialists create their own schools and methods, the example is  the school of Black Sect Tantric Buddhist Feng Shui, which performs the combination of practical and  intellectual  doctrines. The school Dzen feng shui or new-age – feng shui is developing, but this is not the classical feng shui

During the last thousand years a lot of schools had developed, but all of them base on two ancient schools: School of FormВ  and school of Compass

Form, or Landscape Feng Shui School considered to be the ancients feng shui school. It bases on landscapes classification and researches the influence of the surrounding to the object. Primary the practitioners of the Form school chose the auspicious place for graving, then the principles of this school began to apply to the buildings, bridges and roads.

Compass Feng Shui School is called also Sun Ch'uan (3 periods). It was transformed to the school of Flying star, describing the condition and moving of chi (energy) in a house. This methodВ  has developed and improved, so today we can talk about transforming this method in Flying Star School.

Nowadays a lot of specialist practice methods of the Three periods school (Sun Ch'uan) and the School of Three Harmonies. Every school has different principles and has its own special analytical compass.

Three periods school studies dynamic of changing in a time. The time factor represents by numbers, astrological symbols, trigrams and hexagrams. This school pays huge attention to the research of buildings and houses.

School of three harmonies. The main task of this school is to achieve harmony between Sky, Human and Earth, that is why this school uses three compass circles of 24 mountains. This school focuses on the interaction of the building and water sources. The special compass was developed by this school.

Bagua school or Eight Mansions School – this is the youngest school of traditional feng shui It studies the interaction of  the house and its inhabitants. This school divides people into two groups: west and east. According to this school, when the facades of the house directed to one of the best directions of its inhabitants, this will auspiciously reflected on their fortune. It uses ordinary compass with eight directions. 

But you should know good feng shui consultant apply more than one feng shui approach, or school.
