Principles of Feng Shui for Pets

Pets can be affected by the energy flow within their home, just as is the case with people. Therefore, applying good feng shui principles to your pet's surroundings can be beneficial. Just having pets in your home has a tendency to improve the flow of positive energy, due to the fact that they provide an active influence for our homes even when we are not there. This can have the positive effect of adding more "yang" energy to our homes. When a pet is happy, they provide us with a source of positive energy. Then, when we give our pet good care, we provide this positive energy to them as well. Certain pets traditionally bring specific elements into your life, such as the success brought by fish, or the financial luck brought by cats.

Taking Good Care of Your Pets Encourages Good Feng Shui

If you have pets in your home, one of the worst things you can do is to not care for them properly. Just as with plants and other living things, if something is not cared for properly, it can bring negative energy into the home. For example, if you keep an aquarium in your home, never allow the water to become dirty. Not only does this create negative energy because the fish are not being cared for properly, but dirty water in the home will negatively influence the wealth and success in your life.

Keep Proper Balance in Your Home

Even though you may love your pets, it is important to maintain the proper balance and hierarchy in the home. Just as not caring for your pets can upset the balance in the home, allowing them to dominate the home can also create an imbalance. To avoid this problem, try to avoid putting your pets into any position that seems to put them on an equal level with yourself and your family. For example, pets should not be allowed to sleep on a couple's bed, because if they do, their energy can disrupt the energy that should be reserved for the couple. Pets should also be kept off of the furniture, as this is not considered to be their proper place. However, furniture that is specifically for the pet, such as a dog or cat bed, is perfectly acceptable. You can also maintain the proper balance of energy within your home by making sure your pets are well-behaved. For example, if your dog barks and annoys visitors when they enter your home, this can bring negative energy into your home along with your visitors.

Enhance Your Pet's Life with Feng Shui

If you want your pet to benefit from positive feng shui there are some methods that you can use. Your pet's water dish should always be kept sparkling clean. Their "bathroom" area, whether it is a spot outdoors or an indoor litter box, should also be kept clean. A red collar or a red bell attached to their collar can increase your pet's fire energy levels. If you are trying to introduce a new pet to an existing pet, giving both of them a green collar or attaching a green tag to their collars can help them stay calm and get to know each other. Placing a pet's bed in the fame area of your home can help them recharge their energy levels. Finally, keep your pet's toys in a basket or box so that they don't cause excessive clutter in your home, since clutter is always the enemy of positive feng shui energy.
